Modern Relics

In many ways a collector and documenter of objects and marks that contain definite memories of the past, Manning use of the everyday ensures that the viewer can relate to the reality of her work and by doing so, get a sense of the contact that people have had with the objects over time. 

In 2008 Manning collected an object every day for a year. Each object in this piece is of sentimental value to her and represents a specific memory of each day of that year.  Manning sees these items as timeline of the forgotten moments of our past and as such, giving our slightest actions and thoughts a greater level of importance.
